Beyond Academics – Grades I & II

Overview

At Indraprastha Global School, the Beyond Academics programme for the Preparatory Stage is designed to help students build confidence, creativity, emotional awareness, curiosity, and social responsibility alongside academic learning. Through thoughtfully planned activities, experiential programmes, and interactive learning experiences, students are encouraged to explore their interests, strengthen communication skills, develop empathy, and become confident participants in the world around them. The programme focuses on nurturing balanced learners who are emotionally secure, socially aware, and eager to learn through exploration and participation.

Character Building & Life Skills

A Better Version of Me

“A Better Version of Me” is a value-based initiative focused on helping students develop kindness, responsibility, empathy, and self-awareness through meaningful everyday experiences. The programme encourages children to make thoughtful choices, build positive relationships, practice respectful behaviour, and reflect on their actions in a supportive environment.

Integrated into daily school life, the initiative helps students gradually strengthen emotional maturity, communication, discipline, and social understanding. By nurturing both character and confidence, the programme supports the development of responsible and compassionate individuals.

Experiential & Inquiry-Based Learning

Thinking Thursday

Thinking Thursday is an engaging initiative that encourages students to explore scientific concepts through fun experiments, activities, and hands-on discovery. The programme promotes curiosity, observation, questioning, and creative thinking while making science enjoyable and interactive for young learners.

Students are encouraged to participate actively, explore ideas independently, and develop confidence in inquiry-based learning. Through experimentation and exploration, children build analytical thinking skills and a positive attitude toward learning and discovery.

Holistic Development Programme

Shin Edupower

Shin Edupower is a Japanese-inspired experiential learning programme designed to support balanced intellectual, emotional, and character development in students of Grades I and II. The programme focuses on nurturing discipline, mindfulness, creativity, emotional balance, and independent thinking through engaging and meaningful experiences.

The initiative encourages students to develop confidence, responsibility, focus, and positive learning habits in a structured yet joyful environment. By blending holistic learning with everyday experiences, the programme supports the overall growth of each child.

Social-Emotional Learning

Building Emotional Awareness & Relationships

The Social-Emotional Learning programme helps students understand emotions, build healthy relationships, communicate effectively, and make responsible decisions. The initiative supports emotional confidence, empathy, self-regulation, and interpersonal development through age-appropriate learning experiences.

To strengthen this programme, IPGS has collaborated with TROO, an award-winning California-based platform that provides interactive stories, mindful activities, collaborative projects, and engaging experiences focused on emotional and social growth. Students participate in meaningful discussions and activities that help them navigate real-world situations with confidence and understanding.

Excursions & Real-World Exposure

Educational Visits and Learning Experiences

Educational and recreational excursions provide students with valuable experiential learning opportunities beyond the classroom environment. Visits to museums, theatres, KidZania, activity centres, zoo, and community spaces help students connect learning with real-world experiences in an engaging and memorable way.

These excursions encourage curiosity, observation, teamwork, social interaction, and independent participation while helping students develop confidence and practical understanding. Carefully planned experiences ensure that learning remains enjoyable, interactive, and developmentally enriching for every child.
